Tunic T-Shirts - What Are They and Their Popularity Today

If your a women or girl and like t-shirts you probably already know this by now.  However, for many shopping for t-shirts recently has been different.  Once again styles have changed when it comes to T-Shirts.  For the last few years the trend seemed to be less is better.  Thanks to pop stars and young celebs wearing very little clothing, we went through a phase where showing tattoos and skin was in.  While men everywhere were not complaining about this, it was definitely slightly cheesey.  T-Shirt manufacturers and designers this Spring are now pumping out Tunic T-Shirts. 

You may ask What Is A Tunic T-Shirt?  There is no clear definition.  In fact after searching for days for an exact definition we only really found one definition and it varies slightly from the Tunic T-Shirts that are on the market.  That definition is a loose garment that covers the upper body usually coming down as far as the hip of knees and is sometimes belted or gathered at the waist.  What we can provide is a visual description of what we see in Tunic T-Shirts in stores.

The tunic t-shirts that are being sold are generally for women or juniors.  They are generally the same type vintage style fabric as we are used to.  However the length of the t-shirt is longer and the torso appears thinner when wearing them.  While not as long as the definition above these t-shirts do seem to cover the hips.  It is definitely a much classier look than the thong exposed look of recent years.  One of the benefits of the Tunic T-Shirt seems to be the design space.  While most t-shirts have very small graphics on the t-shirt, the Tunic T-Shirt offers a larger canvas to place a design and it looks great.
